Pierre-Auguste Renoir, was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. In 1869 Renoir and Claude Monet worked together to produce the first landscape paintings in the impressionist style. This new style sought to capture the effect of the light on their subject. Because they were painting outside, they painted with bright colours and quick brush strokes, capturing the essentials before the light changed.
Year 6 have study books and question books for English, Grammar and Mathematics. We ask that the children work through those at home as they wish. In addition they will be given a list of Spellings every Monday which needs to be learnt by the following Monday. In addition children will take home a sheet with “KIRFs” (Key Instant Recall Facts) every Half- Term to be learnt.
Reading is also very important. We encourage children to read with an adult to increase their comprehension.
We have a shared library which has many interesting books. Children are encouraged to use it.
Physical Education takes place twice a week. It is very important that PE kits are kept in school at all times. Please mark each item clearly – that’s includes plimsolls as it can quite difficult for your child to find them when they are all changing at once.
In the Autumn term children will be treated to a trip to the theatre.
In the summer, after Sats, year 6 will enjoy Activity Week.
More information about what your child is learning in school can be found on the curriculum map
