Floyd Elzinga makes art from rotten stumps, broken branches, invasive species, ravaged trees and broken objects! He also uses steel, bronze and other metals. He has created his sculptures in Canda for over 15 years. Ms Den Bak chose Floyd Elzinga as her class artist this year because he is an acquaintance from when she lived in Canada. She has always admired his work and enjoyed seeing it in the homes of her Mum and friends. He is inspirational to the children of Parkside as he actually failed his art class in high school and was told in university that he was not good enough. However, he persevered and found his own path doing something that he loves.

Homework
 
Children will be given a list of Spellings every Monday which need to be learnt for the following Monday.

Reading is also very important. We encourage children to read with an adult as often as possible. Please sign the reading record when you read with your child/children.

Library
 
We have an exciting bus library with many interesting books. Children will visit once a week and will be encouraged to borrow books.
 
PE
 
Physical Education takes place twice a week. It is very important that PE kits are kept in school at all times. Please mark each item clearly - that includes plimsolls as it can quite difficult for your child to find them when they are all changing at once.
