Award winning artist Sarah Gwyer was born in Gloucestershire in 1985. She draws together influences from pop artists Andy Warhol and James Rosenquist through to contemporary artists Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst.
After studying Fine Art in Cardiff, Gwyer headed straight to London to study a Masters in Printmaking at the University of the Arts, London. By the time of her graduate show, she was exhibiting simultaneously in London and New York.
Gwyer uses pop culture references and celebrities to create her work, using a mixture of textiles including intricate beading, buttons, sequins and embroidery.
Mrs Mathew has chosen Gwyer as her class artist due to the variety of skills needed to create and replicate the artwork. The children should enjoy manipulating lots of different materials and improving their fine motor skills to create something quite special.
Homework
Children will be given a list of Spellings every Monday which need to be learnt for the following Monday.
Reading is also very important. We encourage children to read with an adult as often as possible. Please sign the reading record when you read with your child/children.
Please see the home procedures for your children's year group.
Library
We have an exciting bus library with many interesting books. Children will visit once a week and will be encouraged to borrow books.
PE
Physical Education takes place twice a week. It is very important that PE kits are kept in school at all times. Please mark each item clearly - that includes plimsolls as it can quite difficult for your child to find them when they are all changing at once.
More information about what your child is learning in school can be found on the curriculum map
